Beirut | 2013

Our debut collection, created for a collective show at Espace Jacques Ouaiss, was conceived as an ode to craftsmanship, and more specifically, to the art of metal and wood working.

Driven by a desire to explore local craft and the intimate relationship between makers and their materials, we embarked on a journey to meet and collaborate with brass and woodworking artisans. Through this exchange, a series of inspiring experiments unfolded, giving shape to sculptural and functional pieces: Cloud, a sculptural lighting family; Loops, a whimsical coffee table; and Bishop, a playful interpretation of the occasional table.

Each piece reflects a deep respect for raw materials and a holistic design process that foregrounds the hand, the gesture, and the craft.

This debut Collection earned us the Brussels based Boghossian Foundation’s 2013 Design Prize. https://www.villaempain.com/en/
