Neo-Oriental Boudoir
Curated by AD Middle East, ‘Art of Living’ is an event showcasing immersive creations by regional designers and artists handpicked by Architectural Digest Middle East for their unique expression.
We were among the 30 distinguished creatives from the UAE, Egypt, Lebanon, Qatar, and beyond, invited to create original dreamlike scenographies at Jubail Island in Abu Dhabi. Drawing inspiration from our exclusive furniture collections, we embarked on a creative journey to shape a space that encapsulates our vision of contemporary oriental living. Inspired by the elegant peacock, a rare species native to the UAE symbolizing both elegance and pride, our objective was to craft an intimate ‘boudoir’—a private seating area designed for serene introspection within an inviting scenography.
Two distinctive anchor pieces were introduced: the ‘Peafowl’ arched mirror, capturing the bird’s iridescent plumage with delicate Verde marble petals, and the ‘Cross-my-heart’ seating collection, which modernizes traditional cane weaving in a stylish and bold manner. The interplay of textures and reflective surfaces enriches the space, imparting a sense of patina, depth, and perspective, subtly echoing the theme of self-reflection and our diverse modern oriental identity.
