OYSTER

Wall/Ceiling Mounted Lamp

Brass

Oyster is a series of sculptural lighting pieces that were developed in 2016. Wanting to explore the idea of customization and adapting designs to different functionalities and scales, we developed this new series available in 3 different sizes and a selection of bold colors offering choices that are eccentric and personal.

MONARCH

TABLE LAMP WITH DOME

BRASS

Monarch lighting series has been developed with the idea of opulence and fine details all the while keeping with our intention of overall lightness. In these specific designs, marble was used as a luxurious decorative detail whereby we chose to use it as an adornment giving the intricate pieces more panache. We decided to push the embellishment further by opting for flamboyant colored stones which give these pieces their unique quality.

Every piece is the product of extensive conversations with accomplished Lebanese artisans, resulting in the creation of ready-to-install lighting fixtures and commissioned design works.

In pursuit of a more engaged practice that reintroduces gesture back into the design process, Carla Baz established a Beirut-based studio where she collaborates with highly-skilled craftsmen to nurture the link between the hand that draws and the hand that makes. Together they work innovatively, transferring knowledge and reinterpreting techniques to modernize craft and create a distinctive product. Every piece is the result of a collaborative exchange with a team of accomplished artisans passionate about their specialty. Both parties constantly explore the possibilities of form, functionality and feasibility, resulting in the creation of works that are at once sculptural and practical, ornate and clean, strong and subtle.

our methodology

Good teamwork & experiences

Carla Baz Lighting is, at first glance, meticulous in form and purist in aesthetic. Once illuminated, a soft warmth emanates and reveals the whimsical intention behind each hand-made work.
